Privacy policy

What Show Up And Play collects, what it doesn’t, and who else sees anything. Last updated 9 September 2026.

Show Up And Play is operated by Djamgatech Corp (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the website at showupandplaysports.com and the Show Up And Play iOS app. They are not the same, and the differences matter, so each section says which one it is about.

The short version

  • The iOS app has no ads and no analytics. You can browse every club and tournament without an account and without sending us anything. That data ships inside the app.
  • Ask needs a free account, in the app and on the website. Each answer costs us a call to an AI provider, so questions are counted per person rather than as one pool everybody shares. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app.
  • Questions you type into Ask are sent to a third-party AI provider so an answer can be generated. That is the one place your words leave your device.
  • The website carries advertising on its article pages, and offers payments. The app carries neither, no advertising of any kind, and nothing to buy.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.

The iOS app

What is on your device already

Club and tournament data ships inside the app, so the Clubs and Tournaments tabs work with no network connection and without contacting us at all. Any filtering or searching you do there happens entirely on your phone.

Refreshing that data

When the app opens, and when you pull to refresh, it downloads two public files from our website. These are ordinary web requests. Like any web server, ours records the request in its access logs, including your IP address and the time. We use those logs to keep the site running and to spot abuse. We do not use them to identify you or build a profile.

Ask, the important section

When you ask a question, the following is sent to our server: the text of your question, the city filter if you set one, and the recent questions and answers from that session so follow-up questions make sense. Your account is identified too, a signed token from Firebase, which is what makes the per-person question count possible. No device identifier and no advertising identifier is attached, because the app has neither.

Our server then sends your question to a third-party AI provider, currently OpenAI, which generates the answer. Your question is subject to that provider’s terms and privacy policy while they process it. We do not send them anything about you beyond the question itself.

We do not keep your questions, with one exception: if an answer fails our automatic accuracy check, the question is written to our error logs so we can find out what went wrong. Those logs are held by our hosting provider for about 30 days and then deleted. We look at them to fix the assistant, not to look at you.

We count how many questions are answered per day, both in total and per account, so that one person cannot exhaust the assistant's daily budget for everyone. That is a running count and the date, a number, never a record of what was asked.

Please do not type personal or sensitive information into Ask. It cannot answer anything about a specific child, team, schedule or registration. It has no connection to any club’s systems, so there is never a reason to include a name.

What the app does not do

No advertising. No analytics or tracking SDKs. No advertising identifier. No location access. No contacts, photos, camera or microphone access. No data is shared with data brokers, and nothing is used to track you across other apps or websites. Nothing to buy, and no payment details are ever collected in the app.

The website

The website does more than the app, and involves more third parties.

  • Advertising. Article pages carry Google AdSense, which uses cookies to serve and measure ads and may personalise them. You can control this at Google Ad Settings and optout.aboutads.info. The home page and the Ask page carry no advertising.
  • Accounts. Firebase Authentication (Google) holds your account: an email address, and an encrypted password if you signed up that way. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, we receive Apple's relay address and never see your real one. Firestore stores your daily question count, and anything you save in the journal on the website. The same account works on the website and in the app.
  • Payments. Where a paid plan is offered, Stripe processes the payment. Card details go to Stripe, never to us. We never see or store them.
  • Newsletter. Article listings come from our Substack publication. If you subscribe, Substack holds your email under its own policy.
  • Ask on the web works exactly as described in the app section above.

We do not currently run Google Analytics or any similar site-wide analytics product.

Children

This service is written for parents, coaches and adult players. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

We are a Canadian company and handle personal information under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@showupandplaysports.com. If you are in the UK, EU or a jurisdiction with comparable law, the same requests apply and we will honour them.

Deleting your account. In the iOS app: the Ask tab, the person icon at the top right, then Delete account. That removes the account and its question counts, and for accounts created with Sign in with Apple it also revokes our access with Apple, so the app stops appearing under your Apple ID settings. It cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it, email us from the address on the account.

How long we keep things

  • Web server access logs: about 30 days.
  • Assistant error logs, which may contain a question: about 30 days.
  • Account data: until you delete the account, in the app or by asking us.
  • Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes to what we collect will be called out on the page rather than slipped in.
